The George Town Club is honored that you are considering hosting a private event with us. The guidelines and services listed below are designed to assist you in planning a successful affair. The menus provide you with a variety of the most popular items from our kitchen; however we welcome the opportunity to create a special menu for your event. The Catering Office can assist with all aspects of planning your event including securing outside vendors. We strive to surpass your expectations.
Jackets are required for men and commensurate dress is expected for women in all areas of the Club except for the Grill. Ties, though still encouraged in the main dining room, are no longer required anywhere in the Club. In the Grill, more casual dress is permitted including collared shirts (without a jacket) for men and commensurate dress for women. Dress blue jeans are also permitted in the Grill only. However, tattered jeans, T-shirts, shorts, and flip flops are not permitted anywhere in the Club.
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones may not be used in any of the sitting or dining areas of the Club or within the sight or hearing of any other member or guest. Cell phone use of any kind in the Living Room and Main Dining Room is expressly prohibited.
Valet parking is available only while you and your guests are on Club premises. We will add valet charges for you and your guests to your account. The Club provides valet service as a convenience to our members and guests. Valet parking is available for members and guests for dinner at 6:30 pm. On all shifts, the valet leaves when the last car in his care departs.We reserve the right to decline parking any "exotic" automobile. We will assist you in parking it in the best available alternate spot.
Food & Beverage
The Club must provide all food and beverage for your event, excluding wedding and other special event cakes. If you provide a cake or bakery item, a cake cutting and service fee of $5.00 per person will be added to your final invoice.
Only persons 21 years of age or older may consume alcoholic beverages in the Club. Outside wine may be brought into the Club for an additional charge. Outside liquor may never be brought in, nor may any alcoholic beverages be taken out.
Service Charge & Tax
20% Service Charge and 10% Sales Tax will be added to all food and beverage costs. Organizations that provide a valid District of Columbia Sales & Use Tax Certificate of Exemption will be exempt from sales tax.
In accordance with D.C. law, smoking is prohibited in all areas of the Club at all times.
The Club cannot assume liability for any personal property and/or equipment of yours, your guests or your vendors.
Deposit & Cancellation
A deposit of 50% of the estimated charges and a signed contract is required to secure a date and space. This deposit will be credited toward the total cost of your event and may be non-refundable in the event you cancel all or part of your function. The cancellation policy is outlined in the contract.
Final guest count is due 72 business hours (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) prior to your event. You will be charged for this number or the actual number in attendance, whichever is greater. If no guarantee is received the Club will consider your last indication of expected guests to be the guarantee.
There is a $100 fee for Bartenders, Chef Attendants and additional Wait Staff.
Each room has a specially selected underskirt with cream linen overlays to match the individual decors. We are happy to accommodate any special requests, an additional charge will apply.
Flowers & Décor
From the most simple to the most elaborate; we can provide all of your floral and décor needs for any type of special event, at an additional charge.
Club background music is available in all private rooms. Musicians can be booked for your event through the catering office. A piano is available for use in the Living Room for an extra fee.
A photographer can be booked for your event through the catering office.
The Club has the following audio-visual equipment available in-house: 5’x7’ screen ($40), podium with microphone ($65), and easel ($15). All other audio-visual needs can be arranged through the catering office, for an additional charge.
Calligraphy and printing services are available for menu cards, place cards, escort cards, name tags and any other requirement you may have, at an additional charge.
